My cat passed away earlier this week, which understandably put me in a miserable mood for the past few days. Some people talk to their friends when they’re depressed. Some people eat pints of ice cream and watch Disney movies. Apparently, my depression go-to is gutting my room and reorganizing my life. I put a lot of my anxious energy into DIY crafty things, and now that I’m feeling better, I figured I would share what I came up with.

1. This is cross stitch fabric stretched into a frame. The holes are just big enough to push earrings through—no more sifting around to find the second tiny stud earring with this thing.

2. This shelf is actually on its back; originally meant for holding papers and pencils, now I’m using it to house my admittedly small makeup collection. The little container at the top right has just been wrapped in yarn to make it look less like the gross plastic bottle it once was.

3. Nothing says class like putting your bracelets on an old beer bottle. I didn’t even peel the label off this sucker. It’s just pointed towards the back.

4. Take a block of wood. Nail flat-head nails into the wood. Glue shit to the ends of the nails. Precariously attach this to the wall any way you can. You now have a neat-looking necklace holder, which will probably save you hours of untangling time.

5. I bent copper wire into little hooks, which anyone can do if they’re patient and don’t mind occasionally being stabbed by little bits of metal. But pliers help. Now these guys hold my hats up.

6. Everyone’s seen this one. I used an old shower rod and some curtain rings to hang up all of my scarves. The rings themselves were too small for the rod, so I made my own connecter rings from more copper metal. Again, saves me time when I don’t have to dig through a box of scarves and wondering where the ridiculous fuzzy one went.
